MS Floor Hockey

The Middle School Floor Hockey Tournament is a great success! 12 teams with over 70 students involved. Teams play 5 on 5 floor hockey during recess either Tuesday or Wednesday of every week. The plan was to originally have it one day a week but with so many teams signed up we needed to schedule in a second day to fit everyone in the gym. The season will be coming to a close. Teams have displayed a positive commitment, great sportsmanship, and responsibility in setting up and cleaning up. I can only hope there's more tournaments to come.

A New Camera

Thank you HASA! What a wonderful camera Mrs. Allen found and you all donated. It is great!

My first photo to test it out!
It was like Christmas in the office opening up a wrapped present...with a balloon!

Mojave Desert Adventure Run

The Adventure Run is a week long jog-a-thon taking place during the school day attempting to virtually run across the Mojave Desert. Students have the opportunity to run for 25 minutes to accumulate as many laps as possible. 3 laps = 1 mile. Students are also being encouraged to record time spent walking or running at home on their Mohave Desert Mile Map. Take a look at some pictures from today's activities.

Paul Staso is ACTUALLY running across the Mojave Desert. 506 miles in 17 days!

March 7-11

Kindergarten, First and Second grades began class working individually with different pieces of equipment. Students were encouraged to find new ways of using the equipment. Creativity was key! Throughout the lesson, students found out all sorts of new ways to move their bodies in personal space. Some movements included bending, twisting, stretching, and curling. Cardinal directions were learned and students moved throughout the gym in these directions using locomotor skills on cue. My favorite part of class was guessing the letter the students were forming with their body. Eventually students needed to work together in groups, small and large, to form their letter of choice. Class ended with a round of "Tommy and Tammi Tucker."

Third, Fourth and Fifth grades finished up their basketball unit participating in a ladder tournament of ZAP.  During this, students were being pulled out to work on their fitness test- curl up and push up form with me.

Sixth, Seventh, and Eighth grades participated in a March Madness style basketball tournament to finish up their basketball unit. Students took on NCAA team names and competed against other teams trying to work their way to the top. The final four teams were announced.
